While no divorce is easy, Katie Holmes is walking away from her marriage to Tom Cruise with the best circumstances she could hope for.
According to a report, the settlement reached yesterday (July 9) was much to the “Dawson Creek” actress’ approval, given that she received sole legal custody of six-year-old daughter Suri.
A source close to the family shared, “She won and is happy. Very happy. She can move on and finally live her life.”
“She did this only for her daughter,” the insider continued, referring to Katie’s decision to divorce Cruise. “That was all she cared about.”
“Tom will be allowed to see Suri, but there are guidelines for the visits. Tom is really sad at the thought of not being able to see Suri. You can tell he really loves his kids."
A joint statement from Holmes and Cruise stated, "We are committed to working together as parents to accomplishing what is in our daughter Suri's best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents."
